Doors

We replaced all the interior doors (6 of them) with double glass laminate wood doors. They are all hung, primed and painted. It's a great look.

Posted by: Chari at July 13, 2004 11:15 AMThe doors I ordered through a local place called Builders Supply. They're manufactured by a company called TM Cobb. You should be able to order similar doors through any window/door place.
I would HIGHLY suggest getting the laminate as opposed to the single sheet glass. Single sheet opaque glass has one smooth side and one rough side. The rough side you will never get clean if they get fingerprints, which they will. The laminate is two sheets of glass laminated together so both sides are smooth.
The additional cost for the laminate glass was about $30 per door. End cost was around $180 a door. Not cheap, but worth it! At least I think so ;)
Posted by: MJ at July 13, 2004 03:40 PMI really like the work you are doing. You are giving a little extra energy to finish my home. (see the before/after of the front at www.barthlow.com/beforeafter ).
While the doors are cool, I think you missed an opportunity to introduce some natural elements into the interior palette. Natural stained, slab birch doors for the interior could have provided a nice, natural contrast to the all-white interior.
Great job. I hope the new owners appreciate the documented work you put into it!
