Palm Springs Meiselman Reborn

A Mid-Century Tract Home Renovation

July 13, 2004

The End is in Sight

We're getting down to the wire now. Almost everything is in place. We're waiting on the bathroom vanities and the kitchen countertops. Everything else is punch list stuff... paint touch ups, polish the floors, staging, etc.

We were hoping (again) to have it ready to put on the market before we go on vacation in two weeks. And we probably could, there's not much left to do. But we've decided to wait until we get back so that we can be here when the offers start pouring in (::grin::).

Last time we sold a house when we were on vacation, the faxes and phone calls almost put us over the edge. We'd rather enjoy our time off rather than nail bite and worry. So, we'll list it when we get back.

I keep tearing up at the beauty of it and humming the Barenaked Ladies "If I Had A Million Dollars"...that's a nice damn house. y'all did an absolutely superb job.

Damn that is one swell house. I wish I could move. I'd buy it. You guys have a lot to be proud of...very nice indeed.

I'd totally buy it if I lived out there. You've done a beautiful, tasteful, quality job. I hope your return is significant.

Gorgeous. Though I don't have a speck of interest in living in P.S., this project and it's quality make me want to pack my bags right now. What a great place to live this is going to be.

Looks great. One negative comment however (please don't kill me for it). You talk about spending some $ on some "extra" things like the nice interior door, but then you use what appears to be cheap kitchen cabinets. Now it could be that they are much nicer than the pictures make them look, but since you used IKEA, I suspect they are as cheap as they look. Other than that one thing, the place looks great!

I beg to differ. They are indeed IKEA cabinets and they were inexpensive - but they are not "cheap" in the way I think you are implying.

Consumer Reports (8/04) just ranked IKEA kitchen cabinets #2 in overall performance and design.

Just because something is inexpensive does not make it cheap. Perhaps it's just the white on white look you don't like?

I would recommend IKEA cabinets to anyone.
