Where in the world is PS?

Someone just emailed me and asked me where Palm Springs was in relation to the wildfires. I downloaded the satellite images and pointed out a few land marks.

Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead were both evacuated last night. Big Bear is about 30 miles as the crow flies. There are also several large fires burning to the south of us moving our way that are not on Tuesdays image.

In any other circumstances, thirty miles would be a pretty safe distance. But this would make me rather nervous. I'm sending a little bay area fog your way.

Thanks for the fog! We feel pretty safe at the moment. But my heart goes out to every person and critter who's in harms way. It's pretty bad. It's going to be another long night for a lot of folks.

What do you mean "we" feel pretty safe? I'm gathering jewelry and crating cats.
