Speaking of cats... apparently the missus wasn't kidding about evac plans in her comment last night. Look what greeted me on the fridge this morning... Yes, I know she lists 9 cats. For the record we do not own 9 cats. But in the event of an emergency we would save the semi-ferals if we could. Now after seeing the words "loose in the car" I am off to PetSmart today to buy a large crate. There will be no loose animals in the Jeep thankyewverymuch.

In other fire news:
Fires now threaten the high desert. Seems that things are moving away from us for the time being. Regardless, the Fishwrap household is confirming its evacuation plans (Plan A: Hello Phoenix!) and making sure our disaster kits (house and car) are up to date. You should too.
