Scary Stuff

"Same-Sex Unions: Truth and Consequences"

This "movie" is the most vile, reprehensible piece of shit propaganda that I've ever seen. I can honestly say, I don't think that I have ever been more offended in my entire life.

If you are gay - watch the video. All 8 minutes of it. If you're not gay -watch the video. All 8 minutes of it. I can only hope that it will open some eyes. And not in the direction its makers intend.

These are the kind of people who frighten the bejessus out of me folks. Watch and learn.

According to the missus, it's being shown in Catholic churches throughout MA. As if these people don't have their own issues.

I'm gonna link to this from my site too. I think everyone should see this tripe and be aware of the proponents of these lies. I was listening to a liberal friend talk about seeing The Passion of the Christ recently. She was struck by how kind, compassionate, non-judgemental, deeply peaceful and inclusive Jesus was (in this film and, probably in reality, according to her). I'm struck by the irony of people using Christianity as a justification for discrimination and hateful messages like this one. They travel in herds to witness the execution of a man who lost his life for being inclusive and teaching love and acceptance. They leave the theaters and become the antithesis of what their Jesus teaches. Mind boggling is what it is.

Ooooooohhh, that's nasty! What a piece of garbage. I think I'll have to post it too.

This is so awful. I have been meaning to make a donation to hrc.org to fight this kind of hatred, and this motivated me to make this donation today!!!! I hope this inspires others as well.

Right now we should all be making a donation to the Massachusetts campaign having to deal with this video on the ground. They're named Mass Equality and they are fighting tooth and nail to try and keep this horrible amendment off the world's oldest living constitution. They're doing it on a shoestring, too. Donations can be made at www.massequality.org.

Speak slowly, use signs, and highlight important words so the people can understand.

I suppose these are the same people who are pissed that Kerry used Scripture to challenge the compassion of Georgie Boy. I see why as they so obviously have a grasp on Christianity. Judge others. When that's not enough, talk about how much money they'll lose if they don't vote to continue the judgement of others. That's what Jesus would do, right?

That is some truly scary propoganda shit! I am soooo threatened by....by the people who spew this kind of crap.

A fellow co-worker was in SF on the "Big Weekend" and he and his partner got hitched. I was happy to hear his story as well as read yours. It is such an unpleasant world at times and for anyone to find true happiness is a joy to be celebrated.

Thank you for linking to it so that I may share it with others.

I'll pass on watching their video and just use my imagination. There are poor sick hungry children they can spend their time worrying about.

Posted by: meg at March 30, 2004 03:44 PM

There in lies the irony... According to this propaganda piece, it IS all about the children. And us rich homosexuals are the big bad boogeymen coming to destroy civilization (nice dinosaur imagery...) and convert their children. Because have you heard about Scandanavia?!

Yes, what about the children they pretend to protect? What about the fact that the same group showing this film (the catholic church) sat in silence, sheltering child molesters for years... Apparently, my marriage is more of a threat to their family than a priest screwing their kid. It makes me sick.

The Catholic Church as been showing this at "selected" churches throughout Massachusetts during regular Mass. There have been several "incidents" as the Church phrases them of people standing up and walking out of the Mass. I know I couldn't have sat there and watched it.

The church is also trying to register Catholics to go out and vote for the state consitutional amendmentment that will ban gay marriage and also wants them to force their legislatures to do away with any idea of civil unions.

I suppose gay marriage is that much more of a threat to the Boston church than 40 years of ignored and covered up child abuse was.

The only surprising saving grace of this terribly misleading video is that they picked such real and attractive lesbians. I wonder why they didn't choose more counter culture images?

MJ, thanks for you great marriage stories and congrats!

Someone should make a video of the above, put some nice "god is love" music to it and send it to our pals in Massachusetts fighting the good fight. It's one of the best arguments I've ever read, and it doesn't say anything argumentative.

sorry. linky.

Posted by: angela at March 31, 2004 01:45 PM

doh!
new window linky.

The picture with the dinosaur was a nice touch, symbolizing that marriage is becoming extinct. I beg to differ. With Britney Spears and Elizabeth Taylor, among many others, marriage is alive and thriving. :P
