Holy Crap!

$2.67!

That's what I paid for mid-grade at the pump this morning. $41.60 to fill my Jeep. Premium was $2.76... what the fuck?

Now, don't any of you smarty pants out there start in complaining about my complaining and the price of a gallon of gas-o-leen vs. the price of a gallon of milk blah blah blah de dah... This sucks. $3 bucks a gallon isn't that far off I guess... Grr.

Wow, that is an awful lot. I had no idea what the gas prices were, since I'm not in the USA. That's bad.

The local paper recently reported that, except for Hawaii, Coachella Valley gas prices were the highest in the nation ($2.49 for regular) so I imagine it's not quite so bad elsewhere. And I buy Mobil gas which tends to be slightly higher priced as well. We're feeling the pinch at the pump out here that's for sure.

Just yesterday I pulled into my favorite station to fill up.

I had to wait a couple of minutes for the attendant to come over.

While I was waiting, a man I'd never seen before began fiddling with the pump.

Just like that, the price jumped from $1.99 to $2.04 per gallon.

I shoulda got there five minutes earlier...

I just filled up in Long Beach, along the coast for $2.45...and I went there because it was the lowest price around. It is only going to get worse.

<they don't know they're born today>

Last time I was in England, it cost me £90 to fill up a Mitsubishi SUV.

In Hawaii, at least when I lived there, gas wasn't even sold by the gallon, so you really didn't know you were paying so damn much. I think it was by the liter or something...

And to think, I was bitching about paying $1.89 a gallon for the decaf gas.

Gas is two bucks a gallon and milk is five.

Looks like it's Cheerios with Unleaded for the kids from now on. Gotta pinch those pennies somehow.

Wow, I don't feel so bad. Usually, New York is higher. Two days ago I paid $2.13 but it could have gone up since then. I buy gas at BJs or on the reservation whenever I can.

I recently heard that there's a possibility of a tax moratorium on gasoline in New York for the summer -- the state will forego the taxes in favor of getting its residents on the road for their summer vacations, to boost the economy in other ways. That'd be sweet!

To put your gas prices into context, I've just worked out that we are currently paying the equivalent of $5.40 - $5.50 per US gallon in the UK. Successive governments here believe that taxing gas at 80% is perfectly OK! What do you think?
